Nigeria: Nulge Backs Obi for Anambra Guber Election

Awka — MEMBERS of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Anambra State, have said in Awka, that they will work hard to ensure that the incumbent Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, is reelected in next year's election in view of his achievements since assuming office in 2006.

Speaking after their tour of projects executed by the state government in parts of the state, NULGE chairman, Mr Godwin Ibekwe advised those jostling for the office of Governor, next year to go for other positions, adding that as far as they were concerned, there was no vacancy in Awka Government House.

"In spite of what he went through at the courts, after his mandate was stolen, Governor Obi still worked hard for the people of Anambra State by delivering dividends of democracy to all parts of the state. In the past three years, there has been a lot of infrastructural development in the state, which is even appreciated by his opponents.

"When he came in, we informed him of the poor conditions of workers in the state and within one year, he increased our salaries and since then, has been doing a lot to improve on the general well being of workers. Having seen what is on ground, NULGE has decided to support the Governor in his bid for re-election, so that he would complete the programmes he had started.

"We are grassroots people and we have many dependants to whom we shall pass on the message about what we saw. We have affirmed that our Governor has no rival in next year's election," Ibekwe said.
