Liberia: Muslims Entangled in Haj Scandal

AllAfrica aggregates reports from Africa's news media. This is an article from the Liberian press. It is not a report by AllAfrica.

The Liberian Muslim Community is apparently embroiled in a scandal, with some Legislators allegedly linked, resulting into the deportation of Several Liberian Muslim members from the ongoing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The scandal involves a calculated plan in which huge sums of money were taken and fake passports issued to several muslins traveling to Mecca, for the annual holy pilgrimage this year.

About 22 Muslims were affected when Saudi authorities denied them entry into the holy land on grounds that their traveling documents were not proper.

A member of the National Hajj Committee and legislator, Malian Jaleibah has unearthed the criminality beclouding this year's hajj, linking four muslin legislators along with Mr. Zadom Sherriff, a diplomat who was sacked.

The Chairman of the Muslim legislative caucus Sen. Fombah Kenneh promised to comment on the matter but failed to do so when contacted.

Mr. Zadom was former President Taylor's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, but was recalled due to his alleged involvement in drug deal and money laundering.

I am concerned about this news from New Democrat. The muslims went to Mecca on a holy mission. Whether they got stranded, or entangled in whatever scandal on their holy mission, what concern is it of yours to publish that? They did not go on a political mission, neither was it a social mission. I am not a muslim, but as a Christian, I would not want you, or anyone to publish any thing in the news about any holy land encounter, except if such encounter caused death. People go to Mecca for a holy experience. I think you should have left this news alone, and concentrated on news within Liberia.

    Dear Mr. Jackson,

This 's my personal letter to you & many our Liberian folks!

I'm in the possession of facts, some maybe, unknown to your knowledge that our country, Liberia's problems is aplenty and multiplying by the very minutes as we carrry-on communicating electroncally!

Mr. Jackson, my response to issues you raised and the deportation of Liberians with fake passports , etc.; plus, the squandering of huge funds by an sole-organizer, Mr. Zaidan Sheriff along with the consent of Mr. Abel Massaley and others senator and members ot the House of Representatives to fletch huge sums of money from an unsuspecting Arabs & Gulf states in order to facilatate that our Liberian-folks meet and or qualify for performance of one of five requirements of Muslim pillarsl

Maybe, unlike you, I'm dismay by our governmant's failure to secure a viabrant representation within the region; a course for which I've along with others pleaded time and again; nearly, loosing my life in the process!

Citizens, sooner rather than latter, the next up-heavals to Liberia's stibility will be emerging from the Middle-Eastern shores! If especially, nothing is been done and or forth-coming to redress our slumbering government responses from within the security appartus; that which's fakely prescribed our tormoil as being an Muslim / Christian Conflict; an senario, which certainly isn't the case!

Dear Citizens, there's none such false premises; we're our own future; therefore, we must dis-owned corrurt practices and embark on a newer and fresher path!

    Citizens, here's our minimum demand!

'Can you therefore with honours through an channel petitioned format, strikes actions, ect.. help our government respond to our minimum demands from us (your Brothers & Sisters) in the desporado?

    'Forward Ever, Backwards Never' !

'Change and a way back to right-path isn't a big request!'

    Best Regards,

Arman M. Kpissay ll (Dubai-United Arab Emirates -050-5693018)
