Namibia: Women Robbed, Raped

TWO women, aged 25 and 40, had a horrifying experience in the early hours of Wednesday morning, when they were held at gunpoint, robbed, and raped.

The incident took place at around 01h00 in Ombakata Street in Okuryangava, after the suspect(s) forced the door open with an unknown object.

The stolen items include two cellphones and N$45 in cash. No arrests or recoveries have been made yet, and the Police investigation continues.

In another incident at Mururani village in the Kavango Region, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 61-year-old man at around 06h00 on Tuesday morning.

According to the Police crime bulletin, the suspect is known, but still has to be arrested. The Police investigation continues.

* In the Kavango Region, a woman was arrested at Kajewura village on Wednesday for allegedly setting fire to a hut in which her sister and her husband were sleeping.

The two sustained minor burns, while goods worth about N$2 000 were damaged in the fire.

- At Wiwi village on Wednesday, a 62-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a shotgun belonging to his friend.

At Shamvhura village, also on Wednesday, Rimunga Kandjeke collapsed and died while she was drinking home-brewed beer with her friends.
