Uganda: President Reappoints Three Public Service Officials

Kampala — THE Deputy Chief Justice, Laeticia Kikonyogo, has sworn in three members of the Public Service Commission (PSC), after President Yoweri Museveni reappointed them to serve another four-year term.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place on Tuesday at the Kampala High Court, was witnessed by the second deputy premier and Minister of Public Service Henry Kajura, state minister for public service Seezi Mbaguta, permanent secretary Jimmy Lwamafa and deputy head of the commission Hilda Musubira.

The members whose terms have been renewed are PSC chairperson Prof. John Patrick Muzaale, deputy chairperson Joyce Kaddu and Catherine Akot.

The three join the five other members who are Francis Oryang-Lagony, Jamillah Kamulegeya, Ben Wanyama, Justice Cosma Kato Matongo and Dr. Laban Kirya.

Kajura said the President had renewed the members' terms of service because they had performed well. He urged the Public Service board to speed up recruitments in order to fill the vacant posts.

"In filling the vacancies, have merit, fairness and transparency standards in your minds and in executing your tasks," Kikonyogo appealed.
