Uganda: Ex Stanchart Employee Held Over Sh129 Million

Kampala — THE Police have held a former Standard Chartered Bank official over sh129m she obtained from a city businessman by false pretence.

Ephraim Ntaganda stated that when he contacted Warda Katende Achomo to recover his money, she issued him bouncing cheques. After failing to recover the money, Ntaganda said he agreed with Achomo to surrender her home in Kabowa, valued at sh116m. But Achomo turned around and refused to vacate the house.

In her November 20 letter to the bank's Country Head of Credit, Achomo alleged that she was coerced into signing the agreement to give away her house.
