Maiduguri/Yola — The Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and his Adamawa State counterpart, Admiral Murtala Nyako, have called on Muslims all over the world to live in peace with one another.Governor Sheriff made the call in his Sallah message signed by the Director Press Government House, Maiduguri, Zannah Usman Chiroma.
He urged Muslims to emulate the virtues and teachings of Prophet Ibrahim Allayhi Sallam.
The governor, on behalf of himself, family and people of Borno State, congratulated the Muslim Ummah on this year's celebration of Ed-el-Kabir and enjoined them to be their brother's keepers.
Sheriff also asked Muslims in the state to pray for the safety of the pilgrims and for peace to reign in the state and the country at large.
According to him, government would continue to pursue programmes and policies that will positively impact on the lives of people. He sought support of the citizens.
He also seized the opportunity to advise all parents not to allow their children and wards to roam.
The statement said security agents were on the alert to ensure that lives and property are protected during and after the Sallah celebrations as all efforts to combat crimes are on.
The Adamawa State governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako, stressed the need for citizens to united, be tolerant, security conscious, as well as law-abiding at all times.
The governor spoke when the deputy governor, Barrister Bala James Nggilarti, who led members of the executive council and other groups to pay him Sallah homage at the Government House, Yola.
He described unity of purpose and the maintenance of law as necessary for good governance.
Governor Nyako commended members of the state executive council, the judiciary, security chiefs, the leadership of PDP and opposition parties for their contribution to the development of the state.
He charged them to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the people.
The governor also gave assurance that his administration would continue to initiate policies to reduce poverty.
