Uganda: FDC Plan to Sue Kulayigye

Forum for Democratic Change supporters in Karamoja region have refuted allegations by the UPDF spokesperson that their leader, Dr, Kizza Besigye promised to give guns to the Karimojong.

Led by Mr Simon Nangiro, their coordinator in the region, the FDC supporters want Lt Col. Felix Kulayigye to apologise, produce evidence to support of his allegations or face legal action.

"There is no single time, he promised to re-arm the Karimojong to reverse the achievement registered by the disarmament programme. Lt. Col. Kulayigye must produce the evidence," Mr Nangiro said.

In an opinion published in the New Vision, a government-owned newspaper, titled: 'Re-arming Karimojong will distablise the region' on November 27, Lt. Col. Felix Kulaigye wrote that Dr Besigye promised to arm the people of Kalita in Nakapiripirit.

But Mr Kulayigye yesterday said he has the evidence to that effect."They are free to go to court," he said.
