Warri — Delta State University (DELSU) is now one of the most popular universities in the country in terms of popularity when we consider demand for admission in tertiary institutions in this country", the outgoing Vice- Chancellor of DELSU, Abraka, Prof. John Okpako Enaohwo, JP, said this in his valedictory address on the occasion of the 101st regular meeting of the Senate held recently.
According to him, for the first time in the history of the university and going by the number of candidates who sought placement in the last Post-UME, 38, 000 students came knocking on DELSU doors for admission.
"As a result, we are adopting every objective criterion to satisfy this mammoth crowd since our quota from the National Universities Commission is only 3,500. By the level of demand for places in this university, we are now ranked ahead of many federal universities in this country.
"Because of this positive development which arose as a result of our good performance in the accreditation of our programme, the university is now the better for it," he stated.
