Nigeria: Governor Aliyu Urges Support For Electoral Reform Process

Minna — Gov Babangida Aliyu of Niger State at the weekend urged the people of the state to support the Federal Government's efforts to reform the electoral process to strengthen the nation's democratic institutions.

Addressing Muslim faithfuls who converged at the Minna Eid praying ground for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, Aliyu urged the people to remain steadfast in their support to ensure the success of the electoral reform process.

He reiterated the commitment of his government to the provision of sustainable services to the people.

He charged Muslims to imbibe the ideals of perseverance, sacrifice and commitment to the will of Almighty Allah for the progress and development of the state and the country in general.

The governor also urged the people to ensure that peace and stability reigned by supporting government's programmes and policies.

The Chief Imam of Minna, Alhaji Ibrahim Fari led the Eid prayers and later slaughtered a ram according to the Islamic injunction.

A former Head of State, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, was among the thousands of Muslim faithfuls present at the prayers.
