Kaduna — The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), have congratulated the Muslim Ummah on a successful celebration of Eid el-Kabir.
A statement signed by ACF's spokesperson, Anthony N. Z. Sani said, "The Arewa Consultative Forum wishes to felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters over the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir. May the spirit of the time nudge all the adherents who resolved to forgive and do away with past practices that are the bane of the nation's socio-economic development, and who want to come together as a united people in order to live up to our collective challenge. One way of doing this is to help the government come up with electoral reforms that will inspire people's votes to count for the purpose of producing leaders who will have abiding faith in the judgement of the people.
"Our religious leaders should therefore, brace up and drive it into popular consciousness that rigging or electoral malpractices, as well as helping oneself into public funds through corrupt practices are social taboos, and so, sins against God or Allah. The situation is not beyond redemption, given the vision, patriotic courage and committed prayers. Again, enjoy the celebration, and may this generation of Nigerians live long to experience many more decades of Eid-el Kabir," ACF said.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, in a message through its secretary-general, Reverend John Joseph Hayab, said, "We are felicitating with the Nigerian Muslim community on the successful celebration of the Eid el-Kabir today. We are also using this opportunity to appeal to Nigerians to continue living in peace and harmony towards achieving a meaningful development for the country."
On the importance of sound leadership as a tool for achieving nation building Hayab added, "We recognised the basis of a credible leadership as a panacea for development, and we will continue to demand that our country gets the best leadership because it is one of the basis of achieving development".
