Nigeria: Tahir Pays Staff Bonus For Good Citizen 2009 Conduct

Kano — The Under-17 World Youth Soccer tournament may have ended, but the ripples generated and the multiplier effects of the tournament keeps reverberating on the air.

Apart from the controversial issue of accountability of the resources expended for the games, for which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have unleashed its dragnet, one other thing is that those who assiduously contributed to its success story are getting rewards for their effort, albeit in the private sector.

Such beneficiaries are the staffers of popular Kano based hotel, Tahir Guest Palace whose management added 20 percent bonus to their salaries for a job welldone. The A-class hospitality outfit was 'fumigated' to be fit enough to accommodate all the four teams that trade tackles at the Kano centre of the recently concluded tournament.

They are Team USA, Malawi, UAE and Spain and all of which commended the wonderful treatment and hospitable service extended to them by the management and staff of the hotel.

Besides, players and officials of the teams, particularly those of USA, UAE and Malawi told our correspondent that the environment and well-kept surroundings of the hotel was something for them to take back home, as it was only comparable to the best in the world.

To this end, proprietor of the hotel, Mr. Tahir Fadallah, a Lebanese-Nigerian expressed his appreciation by announcing a twenty percent increment on their salaries in the month in question.

According to him, the pay rise is to recognise and appreciate their loyalty, steadfastness and wonderful performance while the competition lasted; saying the bonus was a way to say thank you to his management and staff for making the hotel and Nigeria proud by their hospitable services to their guests during the cadet tournament.
