Zimbabwe: Film Festival Moves to Bulawayo

Harare — THE International Images Film Festival, which kicked off in Harare on November 20, this week moves to Bulawayo.

The festival -- running under the theme "Transforming Women" -- premiered numerous films in the capital last week.

In Bulawayo, it will run from December 3 to 5. It was a great week for Harare film lovers as they had a good taste of new, unique films that were shown at Elite 100 in Avondale and Rainbow movie houses.

Embassies and international cultural agents in the country presented various films from their countries throughout the week.

Some of the films that thrilled the audiences included a Polish production, A Reliable System, which potrays the plight of a woman struggling for survival off pension.

The closing film was at Elite 100 entitled In The Life.

Saturday was also a day for awards that were presented to various persons for their outstanding contributions in the film industry.

IIFF assistant programmes director Yvonne Jila said the festival was progressing well.

"All the fun will now be going to Bulawayo where films such as Rose on Tour will be showcased," she said.
