The Abuja Family Worship Centre at the weekend said it has dedicated 20 percent of its weekly earnings for the empowerment of widows.
Coordinator of the centre's widows, Aunty Regina Nuhu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the centre's upcoming fund disbursement and empowerment workshop coming up in January.
She said the centre pays particular attention to wives of clergy men that lost their husbands in the course of duty.
According to her, the centre has a budget of N10 million to be disbursed to widows in January, after given out N6 million to over 30 women in November this year.
"In the past, the centre concentrated on paying monthly and quarterly stipends to them but over time, they decided to train them on various businesses and give them soft loans to set up their own shops," she added.
Regina called on good spirited Nigerians to help the centre in its quest to empower women and by extension, the nation.
"Now our plan is to register widows in the Northern part of the country, which we have started from Jos and intend to cover the entire country in the next two to five years following the successes we achieved in our past initiatives," she said.
She disclosed further that the centre is also grouping the women into cooperatives for them to utilize funds available to them.
