Lagos — As part of the ongoing restructuring of agencies under the Ministry of Aviation, the federal government has appointed two new directors for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The appointments take immediate effect.
The newly appointed directors are Mrs Azuka Onyia and Mr George Uriesi. They are to man the affairs of Finance/Account and Operations divisions of the agency, respectively.
Dr. Onyia was appointed as the substantive Director of Finance and Accounts, while Uriesi was appointed as the Director of Airport Operations.
Onyia has over 17 years of practical experience in finance, administration and public accounting in diverse industries, including e-commerce, aviation, real estate and manufacturing.
She also worked with Boeing Company, one of the world's major aerospace firms for five years.
Onyia obtained her undergraduate degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and her Masters in Business Administration from the Andersen School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles.
She is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. She is also a certified Public Accountant with the State of California, United States of America.
George Uriesi's career spans more than 17 years in the aviation industry, covering the airlines, airports and regulatory environments.
He was the Section Manager, Aviation Affairs at the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT).
He has also worked as Manager - Aviation Safety Promotion, of which he was responsible for the development, co-ordination and implementation of the safety programme.
He was the General Manager, Cape Town International Airport.
