Dar Es Salaam — THE world's greatest last place finisher ever John Steven Akwari and former world's 1,500 metres record holder, Filbert Bayi, are among personalities to be interviewed by Trans World Sports broadcast next week.
Local co-ordinator of Trans World Sport Limited, Muharami Mchume, said today that a crew comprised Bettina Vazquez and Jose Cassamayor will jet in the country on Friday and will spend three weeks in the country to film various sports features.
Apart from holding interviews with the duo, the Trans World Sport which is among the leading international sports broadcast, will also film a feature on traditional game of BAO - an African equivalent of chess.
They will also film Albino Football team as well as having an interview with Aishaymar Kwegir-MP. Trans World Sport began life in May, 1987 and it is distributed to over 86 countries world-wide. The company comes from the IMG Media Limited, the world's leading producer and distributor of sports programme.
The crew will travel to Mbulu district, Manyara region to visit Akhwari, who was an Olympic athlete at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. He represented Tanzania in the marathon.
During the race he fell, badly cutting his knee and dislocating the joint. Rather than quitting, he continued running. He finished last among the 57 competitors who finished (74 begun the race). When asked why he continued running, he said simply, "My country did not send me to Mexico City to start the race. They sent me to finish."
