Uganda: Trio Sent Packing in Kampala Leg

Kigali — IT was another forgettable afternoon for Rwandan tennis as three juniors failed to qualify for the main draw of the ITF/CAT East Africa U-18 tennis circuit Kampala leg yesterday.

In the boys' category, Christian Rudasingwa lost out to Egyptian Auf Mohammed 4-6, 4-6 while Desire Nkurutsu could not match his Great Britain opponent Steven Bellington after losing out in straight sets 3-6 2-6.

One of Rwanda's promising female talents Gisele Umumararungu also failed to impress after going down 2-6, 2-6 against N'tcha Stephanie of Benin.

Meanwhile, Gatete Hamisi joined Mele Bizimana in the main draw after wrestling to a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 win over Uganda's John Semanda.

By press time, the pair was warming up for first round ties.

D. Nkurutsu (Rwa) lost to S. Bellington (GBR) 3-6, 2-6
