Uganda: Nkumba, Sport-S Sweep Volleyball Titles

Kampala — THE Uganda Volleyball Federation has declared Nkumba the 2009 women volleyball league champions.

The federation president Sadiq Nasiwu has communicated the decision, which gives the university side a ticket to participate in the regional and continental club championships next year.

"The volleyball season ought to have ended in November, I thus congratulate Nkumba University Volleyball Club (ladies) for having won this year's league," read part of the December 1 letter from Nasiwu.

The women event was interrupted by counter accusations after KCC arrived late for a match against Cubs.

Sport-S meanwhile broke a three-year jinx when they captured the men's title on Saturday.

The Kampala giants saw of Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) 3-1 in the national league play-off series.
