Somalia: Unidentified Gunmen Hurl Grenade to Mosque in Galka'o Town

Unidentified gunmen have hurled a grenade to a mosque in the Galka'o town in Mudug region, just as more officials of Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a clerics were praying in the mosque, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said that the explosion was hand bomb which targeted to Mubarak mosque in Garsore neighborhood in the town as the people were preparing to pray Tuesday evening prayer.

No casualties were reported so far.

The sound of the explosion could be heard in all areas around the mosque and it is unclear who were the real group masterminded the blast.

Resident told Shabelle radio that the explosion was aimed to be killed some of the Islamist officials of Alhu Sunna Waljama'a who were praying in the mosque.

We had tried to contact with the high officials of the Ahlus Sunna Waljama'a in Galka'o town, but we did not receive them through the telephone.

There had been calm situations in the town in the recent days though it is part of more explosions happened more different parts of the town in north Somalia.
