Tanzania: Lisu Wins 3,000m in Dar Race

Dar Es Salaam — DAUDI Lisu, a 16-year old pupil from Kibwegere Primary School in Dar es Salaam, today won the boys' 3,000m during the two-day athletics competition held at the University of Dar es Salaam sports grounds.

Victor Richard from Temboni Primary School finished second as Laurent Stanslaus from the same school came third.

In the girls' 800m, Shani Jafari from Ukombozi Primary School scooped the title and was followed by her fellow school mate Esther Deo. Hajira Ahmed settled for the third slot.

Rajab Ali from Temboni Primary School was the fastest in the boys' 400m while Constantine Amos from Kibwegere school came next. Kelvin Dastan from Msewe was third.

In the girls' category, Moshi Thomas from Idrisa school won the race as Martha Vendelin and Hawa Ahmed from Kibwegere and Temboni schools finished runner-up and third respectively.

Over 300 pupils from 92 schools aged between 10 and 18 took part in the event sponsored by Bayport Financial Services at the tune of 2.6m/-.The event was organized by the Kinondoni Amateur Athletics Association (KAAA).
