Tunisia: Gafsa, Soon an ICT Hub

Tunis — In February 2010, the governorate of Gafsa and its various delegations such as Metlaoui, Umm Larayes, Redayef, Mdhilla, Tebeddite and Essnad, will host the "Gafsa Net Expo" forum.

Organized by Tunisia IT, "Gafsa Net Expo" forum is initiating a series of meetings and business partnership between Tunisian and foreign investors in information technology and customer relationships sectors, a new concept in the marketing field consisting of a mutually beneficial relationship between the customer and the company, project leaders, and graduates from the region.

The Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG), Chemical Group, the Poulina Holding and the Abdenadher Group have favorably responded to the invitation to invest in the region and boost its employment potential.

The Italian Benetton, the Japan's Yazaki, the world's largest producer of wiring harnesses and a leader in the automotive industry, and the Tunisian Optimum Group which has announced the creation of five call centers in the region, will also take part in the event.

It is worth noting that the ICT sector in Tunisia will benefit from a significant boost in investments which will reach 6.3 billion dinars during the period 2007-2011 against only 430 million dinars during the period 1992-1996.
