Nigeria: N6.5 Billion Aviation Scam - Court Rules On EFCC's Application January

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) yesterday slated January 13th and 14th, 2010, to rule on the application brought before it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to amend the charges against former Minister of Aviation, Prof. Babalola Borishade and others standing trial for alleged involvement in the N6.5 billion scam in the Aviation industry.

The trial Judge, Justice Sadiq Umar gave the date after hearing the submissions of all the parties involved in the matter.

The anti-graft agency also sought the leave of the Court to enable it file additional proof of evidence in the prosecution of the former aviation minister and others standing trial for alleged involvement in the scam.

Borishade, George Eider, the Managing Director, Avsatel Communications Limited are standing trial alongside Mr. Roland Iyayi, former Managing Director of Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and Mr. T.A Dairo, the Personal Assistant to Borishade for alleged forgery and corruptly enriching themselves in the execution of the N6.5 billion Safe Tower Project.
