Gambia: Edrissa Mass Jobe is the New Chairman FIBank

Edrissa Mass Jobe, has been appointed as the new Chairman of FIBank with a mandate to turnaround the Bank and enhance the brand and reputation.

The current competitive of the banking sector requires dynamism and results oriented focus which the stakeholders believe that his leadership can bring. Edrissa is the Managing Director, a shareholder and the principal promoter of Elton Oil Gambia Limited. From the opening of its first outlet in April 2002, Elton has grown to be one of the country's most recognised brands and a very proactive corporate citizen, contributing mainly to sports and youth development. Elton has been a caring innovator, introducing Gambia's First Taxi Driver Insurance scheme, and the first local card payment and loyalty scheme.

Edrissa Mass who is married with three children, was born in Banjul in 1962. He completed his primary and secondary schooling in The Gambia and in 1981, set a national O' levels record. He trained as a Mechanic Engineer from the prestigious UMIST, in the UK, where he was also trained in Hospital engineering and became Gambia's First hospital Engineer, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all medical and health estate and equipment in The Gambia.

Edrissa joined Shell in 1989- as the Sales Manager and Technical Adviser and Shell Gambia, he became the Commercial and Operations director of Shell Guinea, after the privatisation of the nationalised companies, in this capacity he was responsible for both marketing and Engineering Operations, building a network of 36 service stations and an IPP in the Gold fields in 3 years. From Guinea Edrissa worked as the Commercial Director for Shell Senegal, responsible for retail operations in The Gambia and Guinea Bissau.

He left SHell as the Non Fuel Retail Manager, for West and Central Africa, Responsible for a network of over 600 outlets and 260 convenience stores in 14 countries. Edrissa has vast experience in the Marketing Retail Management, Project financing, petroleum Engineering and IPP and Mining sector. In addition to Elton he initiated the Mandinary petroleum project in The Gambia.

Edrissa has served in numerous boards over the period including the Chairmanship of Gamtel, a Director at Gipfza, the Hospital Management Board, International Insurance Company, Icobahd, Gampetroleum, First International Bank, Gambia Investment Group, Slok Air, First International Bank in Guinea, EM Holdings.Chairman Jobe has been a Director of the FIBank since 2004 and has served as a Director in the FIB Group and other subsidiaries in the sub-region.
