Gambia: Bakau Lower Basic School Boosted

Michael and Viviane, a couple from Britain, yesterday, donated educational materials such as books, pencils amongst others and money amounting to one thousand dasasi (D1000) to Bakau Lower Basic School, at a presentation ceremony held at the school ground in Bakau.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Alhagie Muhammed.I. Dukuray, principal of the school, gave a brief history of the school, saying it was established in 1947, noting that it is one of the oldest schools in the country. According to him, the school has 1250 students. Of which 526 are boys and 724 are girls. He said the school operate on thirty classes and the ratio of student per teacher is 1:45.
