Liberia: Angry Women Plan Protest Against 'Taylor Women' For 'Insulting' The President

AllAfrica aggregates reports from Africa's news media. This is an article from the Liberian press. It is not a report by AllAfrica.

Hundreds of women representing diverse backgrounds and groups, including Ministers, have planned a massive campaign to protest against Senator Jewel Howard Taylor and Kadiaatu Diara Findley for their alleged insults thrown at the President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf during the just concluded Montserrado senatorial by- election, this paper have leant.

It is claimed that Senator Taylor, the estranged wife of former President Taylor, and Mrs. Kadiaatu Findley (also a Taylor associate), made insulting gestures to President when the crisscrossed each other during the last day of campaigning in the city.

Organizing officials told this paper Wednesday that the women have held a mass meeting at the Gender Ministry, resolving to form a committee that will embark on a campaign to prevent people from insulting the presidency in the country, informed sources have said.

According to sources from the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare, they planned a peaceful protest against Sen. Jewel Howard Taylor and Kadiatu Diarra, both allies of the CDC, for insults they allegedly threw at the president during the just concluded Montserrado By- election campaign.

Organizers say they will also meet the parents of a child who reportedly attempted stoning the President in Gardnersville while on a campaign trail, for counseling.

    Dear New Democrat:

We read this article and we learn nothing of substance, really.

    1) If she cannot take the heat, she should get out of the kitchen.

    2) If the safety of Ms Sirleaf was threatened, then that issue must be addressed by her security detail -which must re-evaluate their operational preparedness and institute corrective measures to be observed from here on.

    3) If it is a crime to insult another candidate then the laws must be made clear to all - especially what constitutes an insult in the country's laws, regulations etc
