Nigeria: Activist Condemns Clamour for Yar'Adua's Resignation

Kaduna — President of the Civil Rights Congress (CRC), Mr. Shehu Sani has described the call for President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua to resign as nonsensical.

Sani said that the call was unjustified and unconstitutional pointing out that those who made the call were setting dangerous precedent by making such calls which he said were capable of degenerating into chaos.

"It is a hollow political statement without any constitutional justification. It is uninformed and misleading.

"The message is tainted and suspect with the presence of discredited and disgruntled Obasanjo's men who have an axe to grind with Yar'Adua.

"There are laid down procedures for the resignation of the President and not via settling scores.

"President Yar'Adua at this time only needs our prayers and good wishes.

"Yar'Adua should be well and healthy before we can express our concerns and demands," he said.
