A total of 6,200 pilgrims have been airlifted back to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia by yesterday, the second day of the return trip, according to information posted on the Web site of the hajj commission.
The pilgrims who returned in 14 flights so far were from Katsina, Taraba, Ogun, Oyo, Jigawa, Abuja, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kogi, Ekiti, Kwara and Kebbi.
On Wednesday, the first day of inward flights, seven flights were recorded while the remaining flights arrived yesterday.
Max, Kabo and Medview airlines recorded four flights each, while Meridian recorded two flights. The return trip is expected to be concluded by December 26, director of operations for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Lanre Badmus said yesterday.
More than 90,000 Nigerians performed this year's hajj, which ended on Sunday.
