Tanzania: Mtibwa Thrash Manyema in U-20 League

Dar Es Salaam — THE Premier League U-20 championship posted another big margin win after Mtibwa Sugar overwhelmed Manyema FC 6-1 in a one-sided match at the Karume Stadium in Dar es Salaam, today.

Just on Thursday Majimaji's second-string team thrashed Prisons 7-2 as Young Africans succumbed to a 4-2 humiliation at the hands of Azam FC.

And if there is anything positive from this tournament, then it is the aptitude shown by some young target men in notching hat-tricks, which promises that in the near future, a reliable batch of goal poachers would be produced.

A day after Majimaji's Leodegar Ngonyani bagged match-ball courtesy of his three strikes against Prisons, Juma Mpakala repeated the feat to lead Mtibwa's assault in yesterday's match.

Mpakala opened the floodgate after 38 minutes before adding his second three minutes later to ensure Mtibwa go for the breather on a driving seat.

The Morogoro based youngsters continued where they had left in the second half when Samuel Mganda slotted home to make it three nil. Prisons' Ali Ubwa expertly converted from a spot kick to pull one back.

But Mtibwa responded with the fourth in the 79th minute through Isa Isa before Hussein Namadura made it five for the victors.

Mpakala hit the final nail on Prisons' coffin with two remaining on regular time, to mark his hat trick, the exploit that would have reminded soccer officials on the importance of youth tournaments as breeding grounds for future heroes.
