Residents of Division 29 in Firestone, where weapons were discovered last week, are left with surprise and fear following the discovery.
It is not yet clear if arrests have been made, but efforts to to get details from UNMIL and the police have unsuccessful.
However, the women who alerted security officers said six AK-47s and one hundred rounds of ammunition were seized.
The ammunition were wrapped in a yellow plastic and buried on the banks of the Farmington River bordering Margibi County with Grand Bassa County.
"We do not know what is going on here. This is a serious problem, you know, because there are a lot of escape routs behind that river and we hope national security will do something about it.
Our people are afraid you know" Mr. Rally Jallah, who is currently managing that part of the farm, told the New Democrat during a tour of the area Sunday.
Both Mr. Jallah and the superintendent of Division 29, Mr. Clam Brewer, said the weapons' discovery was characterized by doubt saying they were not informed about the exercise.
What was not made clear is whether the weapons fresh ones or leftover of the war, since rebels occupied the area before.
