Dar Es Salaam — Mainland's national soccer team, Kilimanjaro Stars will be looking to emulate the success of their brothers, Zanzibar Heroes when they take on Eritrea today in the third quarterfinals of the regional championship.
Speaking here yesterday, Kilimanjaro Stars Coach Marcio Maximo showed great confidence, saying he has prepared well his team to sail past the Red Sea Boys at the Nyayo Stadium.
"We didn't have the opportunity to see them playing, we've just heard that they are good team, but my boys are good too and we've set our sights on the final and not the quarterfinals", he said.
His words were echoed by the team captain, Salum Sued who vowed to spare no effort in sweeping aside the Eritreans.
On his part Eritrea coach Negash Negasi said today's match would be tough.
"I know nothing about my opponents. This is the reason that makes the match tough", he said.
Danny Mrwanda who has been Maximo's first choice striker is not available today due to muscle strain, hence the Brazilian must choose from the list of Mussa Hassan 'Mgosi', Jerry Tegete and John Bocco to lead the attack.
The showdown is also likely to be too soon for central defender Kelvin Yondan who has just returned to training following a groin injury he sustained when they played Burundi in their final preliminary match.
In the last quarterfinal, Zimbabwe will lock horns with Rwanda at the same venue in a late kick off. The winners of the two quarterfinals will meet in the semis.
