Eritrea: Inhabitants of Dekemhare Receive Efficient Potable Water Supply Services

Dekemhare — The inhabitants of Dekemhare town have been able to receive potable water supply services owing to concerted efforts of the Government and partners for more than two years.

The Administrator of Dekemhare sub-zone, Mr. Efrem Gebrekirstos, explained that the undertaken water project work entailed digging of four new water wells and renovation of other four, installation of over 38 Km-long water pipelines as well as putting in place of eight generators operating via electricity, building of water reservoir with a capacity of holding 5,500 barrels of water as well as eight water stations.

Head of water provision in the town, Mr. Geber Gebremichael on his part stated that previously only about 900 families obtained potable water through pipelines and others were receiving irregular services from mobile water sources. He also added that with the new provision of potable water supply, the inhabitants of administrative areas of Metselu, Amhur and Hadamu were able to obtain water supply through provision of water stations in their surroundings. Furthermore he said that the inhabitants of Dekemhare are obtaining water supply in their nearby at fair price.

Indicating that they were using salty and unclean water previously, one of the inhabitants of administrative area of Metsalu, Ms. Mihret Tekle, expressed her satisfaction with the provision of reliable potable water supply near their house.
