Eritrea: Social Service Being Expanded in Foro Sub-Zone

Foro — At an assessment meeting in the Foro semi-urban center, it was disclosed that a number of programs have been undertaken towards expanding social services which borne fruitful outcome.

A report presented at the meeting in which village representatives, area administrators, heads of ministries' branch offices and national associations took part indicated that significant tasks have been accomplished focusing on achieving food security, diverting river waters flowing from the highlands for agricultural purposes, leveling of agricultural land, construction of water diversion scheme, as well as putting in place and renovation of embankments and water catchments.

The Secretary of the PFDJ in the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Hamid Haj, gave briefings on the objective political, economic and social situation in the country vis-à-vis the prevailing situation at the regional and global level. He also outlined the progress being registered in the implementation of development programs.

Commending the effective implementation of development programs, the participants of the meeting asserted readiness to back up the national development drive.
