Zimbabwe: Celebration Health Donates Drugs

Harare — Celebration Health and its various partners yesterday donated medical drugs worth US$4,5 million to the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare to be distributed to hospitals countrywide.

The drugs include antibiotics, hypertension drugs and Amphoterecin B, which is used for treating HIV-related ailments.

Director of curative services in the Health Ministry Dr Christopher Tapfumaneyi said the donation came as they were finalising a five-year health priority strategy that will run from next year to 2015.

"As a ministry, we appreciate the work being done by some non-State actors in the provision of affordable, accessible and acceptable medical drugs," he said.

He said the drugs would be distributed to selected hospitals countrywide.

Institutions that will benefit include Harare Central, Parirenyatwa, United Bulawayo hospitals, Mpilo, Manama Mission in Gwanda, and Chivhu and Karoi district hospitals, among others.
