Nigeria: Sokoto Gets Committee on Constitution Review

The Sokoto State government has appointed a 13-man committee on the review of 1999 constitution.

The committee which has as its chairman, the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice Inuwa Abdul-Kadir, is to produce the state's position paper on the review of the 1999 constitution.

A statement signed by Salihu Muhammad Gatawa for the Secretary to the State Government added that the committee is also to mobilize the general public to contribute immensely in the review of the constitution.

The Director of Administration, Political Affairs, is to serve as secretary while other members of the committee include a representative of the Sultanate council, Commissioner for Education Alhaji Muhammad Arzika Tureta, Commissioner of Information Alh.Dahiru Maishanu and Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary, Barrister Lawal Abubakar.

Others are Permanent Secretary Agric. Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, two members of the State House of Assembly, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, and Murtala Attahiru Wauru.

Senator Garba Ila Gada, Alhaji Bello Dange, Dr.Isah Maishanu and a representative of the Nigeria Labour Congress are also members.
