Nairobi — The so-called liberalised market can be strange, unfair and illogical at times, remarks Patrick Waithaka, amused at how one company sells the same product at different prices at different locations not far from one another in Nairobi. The price of the six-kilogramme cylinder of cooking gas at Shell Petrol Station at Parkroad, he says, goes for Sh1,000, but the same is sold at Sh860 at the company's outlet on Ngara Ring Road, near Kariokor Market. "This is perplexing!" he says.

The transformer Lydia Motanya complained about, which serves her village on Maili Saba-Sibanga road in Trans Nzoia District, has been vandalised three times, says KPLC official Kevin Sang. However, Sang adds, they carried out investigations and it was recommended that it be relocated to a nearby homestead to deter the vandals. "In the meantime, we've replaced and welded the new one to its platform, as we seek the new location. We urge locals to call the toll free line, 0800720001, and report such cases."

Who has mandated Administration Police at Parklands and Westlands, Nairobi, to patrol roads looking for traffic offenders? asks H. R. Pattni. Most of the time, Pattni adds, the security fellows, whose main task is to combat crime, have been stopping motorists and demanding bribes. The Traffic Commandant should investigate and take action against the culprits, "who are acting out of their job description".

There is a vicious gang operating near Githurai, which uses a woman to bait unsuspecting male motorists, who stop to find out what could be amiss, warns D.M.C Imunyo. "As soon as the motorist stops, the gang will emerge from hiding, with its leader, accusing the driver of trying to lure his wife. They will then set upon the victim, rob him of cash and valuables and melt away. I saw the gang at work on December 5, at about 11am."

As Kenyans seek a fresh start in various areas, Richard Oketch Aoko says what he would like to see most is the disbanding of the national soccer team, Harambee Stars, which was bundled out of the Cecafa tournament on home ground. "Let's start from scratch as soon as possible. After all, the country will not be involved in any serious competitions for some time."
Have a better day, won't you!
