Somalia: Civilians Killed in Mogadishu Shelling

.At least 10 civilians were killed and 25 others injured in heavy fighting between Somali government forces and insurgents in the Somalia's restive capital Mogadishu, witnesses said on Wednesday.

Insurgents fired mortars towards Presidential Palace Villa Somalia, prompting response from the government forces who shelled the capital's northern and southern areas, claiming the lives of innocent civilians who include women and children.

"Mortar shells fired into our neighbourhood has killed 7 civilians and injured 14 others," said a Hodon resident.

The capital's Kaysney and Daynile hospitals have received the larger number of casualty, according to paramedics.

The war-riddled capital has experienced heavy clashes that killed more than 30 people in recent days.
