Somalia: Puntland Ministers Voted to Amend Oil Exploration Accord

Delegations from Africa Oil and Range Resource have held talks with the representative of Somalia's Puntland state in the administrative capital of Garowe, where they discussed the amendment of an oil exploration accord.

The two sides reviewed an earlier agreement signed by former Puntland president Adde Muse and agreed on amending the accord, according to the director of Puntland Oil and Mines Company Ise Dholowa.

After the meeting, Puntland ministers voted for the amendments, which will allow the companies to carry out oil exploration in Puntland.

The accord will then be brought before the floor of Puntland's parliament, where the lawmakers are to debate and pass.

President Farole said his administration would not comment about the agreement at the moment.

Farole will sign the amended agreement after Puntland Member of Parliament vote for the Oil agreement. The Oil company will start the work after the presidential assent.

On Thursday (Tomorrow), delegation from IGAD is scheduled to visit Puntland.
