South Africa: Two Terms for Zuma, Declares Malema

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has declared that President Jacob Zuma will serve two terms as president of the country and of the ANC and warned that any bid to challenge this would fail.

"Those who will try to contest Zuma will suffer the same fate suffered by those who tried to challenge him at (the ANC 2007 national conference in) Polokwane.

"They will not win because Zuma is very strong on the ballot; they will also end up forming their own splinter party," he said, taking a swipe at the supporters of former president Thabo Mbeki, who lost the presidency of the ANC to Zuma.

Malema was addressing delegates at the 16th national conference of the ANC-aligned SA Students' Congress held at UKZN's Edgewood campus yesterday.
