Gambia: Governor Seckan Hails President Jammeh On NCS Meeting

Following the successful completion of the 2nd meeting of National Council of Seyfolu and conference held in Farafenni, North Bank Region, the The governor of the region has hailed the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh for his valuable support to the hosting of the conference.

He also hailed the Gambian leader for ensuring the dispensation of justice and revival of traditional custom and values. Governor Edwarr Seckan made this commendation during an interview with the Daily Observer North Bank correspondent at his office in Kerewan last week.

According to him, the hosting of the annual gathering of Seyfolu is a clear testimony of the importance government attaches to fair and speedy justice delivery at grassroots level and also promoting peace and tolerance among the people.

The conference according to him, would greatly help in creating and fostering social cohesion and recognition of traditional authorities by ensuring that traditional rulers continue to play pivotal role in dispute resolution mechanisms are developed and enhanced. "The annual gathering or forum would also enable them to identify, discuss and find solutions to current problems and issues affecting the people of their respective jurisdictions," he said.

Tobaski regards

He then used the opportunity to extend Tobaski greetings to President Jammeh and again saluted him for the numerous support to Muslims during this very important feast. He urged people to continue to promote religious tolerance and also build trust and confidence in the Supreme Islamic Council in observance of holy months or Muslim festivities. This, he noted would have greater impact on the lives of the people, enhance and uphold to the teaching of the Quran and Hadiths.

Domestic crimes

Governor Seckan also used the occasion to call on parents to support government in curbing all forms of domestic crimes and take great care of mentally displaced persons in society, to avert the frequent occurrence of murder of innocence people in society.
