Nigeria: Cleric Tasks Pastors On Segregation

Calabar — Head of Administration and Chairman, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) Executive Council, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has warned church pastors who are still busy maligning the BCS and her leadership to concentrate on the teachings of Jesus Christ and stop segregating against one another.

Obu gave the warning Sunday in Calabar during a thanks-giving service held at the BCS World Headquarters at the instance of the National Association of Ibibio Community of Akwa-Ibom State, Cross River State chapter to mark a successful end of their week-long celebration which culminated in a Ns150 Million fund-raising/Endowment Fund for the building of a home for the under-privileged children in the society in Calabar.

The BCS Head of Administration expressed surprise that even though the BCS was not struggling for members from the churches, their pastors were very confrontational to the BCS and her leadership as if they had scores which needed to be settled.

He said it would profit anybody nothing to presume to be God, act God, perform the functions of God, defend or fight for God in the name of maligning the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star as to do so would mean fighting against the will of God.

"Those church pastors or whatever name they are called should remove anger and hatred from their minds because anybody who hates, segregates and is given to anger is Satanic and would inherit hell-fire.

"True children of God are not given to anger and hatred. Rather, they are always led and guided by love which is required in the kingdom of God .

"Brotherhood of the Cross and Star belongs to God and here, only love reigns", he asserted.Equally, Obu advised members of the National Assembly at both the Upper and the Lower Houses to refrain from hatred, anger and works of ego and redirect their focus towards building a more united and prosperous nation noting that prolonged disagreement between legislators at such levels could escalate to affect the entire nation.

He thanked members of the National Association of Ibibio Community led by Professor Effanga James Usua an author and a-one time Commissioner for Education in the old Cross River State now Akwa-Ibom and Cross River for coming to show gratitude to God for His kindness unto them assuring them of more blessings from God.

Speaking, Professor Effanga James Usua noted that, while planning for the event, they had called on Obu for assistance to facilitate the occasion and that his support and blessings contributed greatly to the success they achieved, hence, their coming for thanksgiving in the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
