The Stipendiary Magistrate of the Bensonville Magistrate Court, Judge Peter T.K. Gonsahn, has filed a writ of Mandamus against the President and Treasurer of the National Association of Trial Judges of Liberia, Judge Yusif Kaba and John Sackor Financial Comptroller of the Judiciary.
According to the writ of Mandamus filed yesterday to the Supreme Court of Liberia, Judge Gonsahn complained that Judge Kaba and the Financial Comptroller, John Sackor are "willfully, Unlawfully and wrongfully" deducting US$10.00 from his monthly allowance and have also refused to refund his dues paid to the National Association of Trial Judges of Liberia for the past four years.
Count three of the writ of Mandamus reads, "Petitioner further avers and says that because of Judge Kaba and the Financial Comptroller John Sackor failure to refund his dues paid to the Association and stop deducting US$10.00 from his cash allowance, he wrote Chief Justice, Johnnie N. Lewis on the 28th day of October, 2009 informing him that he will institute legal action against Judge Kaba and Financial Comptroller in the court of competent jurisdiction if they fail to refund his money in question within one week."
Judge Gonsahn is at the same time calling on the Supreme Court to order the peremptory Writ of Mandamus issued against the respondents to immediately refund the money "illegally" deducted from his monthly cash allowance for the past four years and three months which amounts to US$510.00 plus his expenses.
"Fine them with sufficient amount and further grant unto petitioner any other relief, Your Honor may deem just and proper in the premises." The writ noted.
In a chat with Magistrate Gonsahn, he said the altitude of his colleagues amounted to corruption which should not be condoned in the judiciary.

This is not only corruption, it is being very, very petty.
