Zambia: Be Non-Partisan, ZAF Officers Urged

ZAMBIA Air Force (ZAF) chief of administration at the headquarters, Fred Milambo has called on officers to remain non-partisan but ensure that they support the Government of the day ahead of the 2011 general elections.

Brigadier General Milambo said 2011 would be challenging owing to the general elections to be held but stressed that officers should remain loyal to the Government of the day.

Brig-Gen Milambo said this during the Annual Ball for ZAF officers held in Kabwe at the weekend.

"I know that 2011 will be a challenging year in that we shall have general elections but let me caution that as ZAF officers we should remain non-partisan and support the Government of the day," Brig-Gen Milambo said.

He called for self-discipline among ZAF officers stressing that excessive beer drinking and engaging in wrong vices was retrogressive.

"Avoid excessive beer drinking, having multiple partners in the wake of the HIV/AIDS and above all, be self disciplined," Brig-Gen Milambo said.

He said it was vital for the officers to maintain high standards of hygiene to avoid water borne diseases now that it was raining.

"Lets remain alert and ensure that we guard state property against theft and damage. Sabotage to State property should not be condoned at all," Brig-Gen Milambo said.

He hailed the organising committee for successfully staging the Annual Ball with the limited resources available.
