South Africa: More Kids Drown at Home Than at Beaches

The swimming season is in full swing, and health workers have warned parents to be extra vigilant following a study showing that more children drown in their own swimming pools than at beaches.

A study done by the Netcare private hospital group and Netcare 911 has shown that most drownings and near drownings that happened across the country this year occurred at home, and that in most cases, children under four years of age were involved.
