Zimbabwe: Rains to Decline - Meteo Office

Harare — Christmas is expected to be somewhat dry as only sporadic showers are expected this week.

In an interview yesterday, Meteorological Services Department head of forecasting Mr Tich Zinyemba said there had been good rains last week which had helped push several provinces into above-average positions, but that this would decline from yesterday.

"In terms of percentage of normal rainfall, parts of Matebeleland North and South, Midlands and Mashonaland West provinces have received more than 125 percent, their long-term rainfall. However, parts of Mashonaland East and South of Masvingo provinces have received less than 75 percent of their long-term average.

"Stations with the highest accumulated rainfall totals so far are Kadoma with 392mm, Beatrice 346mm, Kariba 318mm, Gweru 300mm, Bulawayo 383mm and Lupane 267mm," he said.

He said most provinces had received significant rainfall amounts in excess of 50mm over the past week.
