Namibia: Workers Injured in Truck Accident

ELEVEN Nivex Grape Company workers were seriously injured when two trucks collided and one of them overturned at Aussenkehr on Tuesday morning.

The two trucks were transporting close to 81 people to work. The Karas Police commander, Chief Inspector Nicky Nampala, said one of the trucks had crashed into other one while overtaking it.

"The impact of the crash resulted in one of the trucks landing on its side," said Nampala. According to the Police, the driver being overtaken had failed to indicate that he was turning right.

According to Nampala, two workers were transferred to the Windhoek Central State Hospital. The remaining nine were admitted to the Karasburg State Hospital with "serious to very serious injuries".

Nampala said others with minor injuries were treated at clinics at Aussenkehr and Noordoewer.
