Coach Shaibu Amodu has said that he had no target for the Nations Cup in Angola.

But the comments of Ida Peterside, Eagles spokesman, indicate that Amodu probably made such comments to repel pressure that would naturally follow if he promised Nigerians a set target for the Nations Cup.

A stunning performance in Angola will keep his technical crew in tact for the World Cup in South Africa but a poor performance will compel some changes or inclusions as the case may be.

"We'll shock a lot of people in Angola. Nigerians will believe in their team again," Peterside said last night from his base in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Eagles will camp in Durban for the Nations Cup and it falls on Peterside to assist in the organisation of the training camp. The Football Federation and the coaches are in touch with the players and plans are on ground for a good outing in the Nations Cup.

"Our players are doing well and those injured are getting better. The players the coaches intend to use are all playing for their clubs right now. The camp starts January 2, and that's less than two weeks to the Nations Cup. In fact, it is just about a week to the Nations Cup (January 10). We would have liked to have the players longer in camp but we can only have them at the time allowed for their clubs to release them.

But the good thing is that they are all playing and it means that the coaches would no longer lay emphasis on fitness training but on tactical training. For me, it is better that the players are match fit than being in camp for long without friendly matches.

So, it is good that they are playing right now. We are focused and will do our best at the Nations Cup. Nigerians will believe in their team again. Wait and see."
