Tanzania: EABL Gives About 15 Million to Moshi Tourney

Dar Es Salaam — EAST Africa Breweries Limited Foundation has contributed 15m/- to facilitate the third edition of Chief Marealle Cup planned for Moshi between December 27 and January 2.

This was announced in Dar es Salaam today by Managing Director of Executive Solutions Aggrey Marealle. He said that 25m/- has been collected so far, saying that there was still a 10m/- deficit.

He said that the tournament, the second biggest sporting event in the region after the Kilimanjaro International marathon, aims to bring together the youth and share views on social issues.

"The tournament will offer a platform for the youth to exchange ideas on entrepreneurship skills, community policing system, fight against HIV/AIDS and the environmental conservation", he said.

He said that 14 soccer teams, seven netball sides as well ten pool teams will take part in the tournament.

He named the teams as Majengo, Bondeni, Lambo FC, Mawenzi, Kiboriloni, Korongoni, Longuo, Miembeni, Rau, Karanga, Kiyungi, Msaranga, Mji Mpya, Pasua, Soweto, Forest, Njoro, Kilimanjaro, Pasua B, Kaloleni, Langasani and Bafana Bafana.

He said that the final match would be played at the Co-operative University (MUCCOBS) stadium.

He said that the Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony while the Deputy Minister for Information, Culture and Sports Joel Bendera will grace the finals.

He said that the winners would be given lucrative awards.

Chief Marealle Cup which was established in 2007 is named after the independence hero Thomas Marealle who died three years ago.
