Gambia international duo, Aziz Corr Nyang and Momodou Ceesay, commonly known as Zico, have incurred the wrath of Gambia Scorpions coach, Paul Put, after both strikers failed to honour an invitations extended to them by the Belgian tactician for the upcoming international friendly matches.
Gambia Sports Online has reported that Coach Paul Put is not pleased with the attitudes of the strike duo who were called into the team that will face Angola and Tunisia in a friendly international in Lisbon [Portugal] and Tunis on the 3rd and 9th of January respectively.
Observer Sports understands that Aziz Corr Nyang is presently in the country, albeit no sign of him had been seen at the ScorpionsÂ' training session at the Independence Stadium. Paul Put has questioned the duoÂ's commitment to national duties, hinting that he may be left with no option but to stop selecting them for future matches. "Aziz Corr is in the country but he failed to come for training after he has already promised to do so while for Ceesay, he failed to response in time and now he is making excuse that he has to return to training in Belgium [with Westerlo] on the 5th of January," Gambia Sports quoted Paul Put saying.
"I have no problem with that, he can come and at least and play on the 3rd in the first game and go with the others players that will train on the 5th. But I can see that they are not proud to play for their national team and I only need players who will be proud and committed to play for their country." "So I might not consider them for future selection hence they are not committed to the course. But I am in contact with the Manchester United forward [Joshua King] and Joe Sise of Halmstad to try and replace them."
"But I have to try and talk to some people who are close to them and see if they will be keen to play for the Gambia because if not, I have to look for another option and we need that now because the ticketing and everything will be done by the Angolan and Tunisian FAÂ's so they need the names and passport numbers of the players as soon as possible" Paul Put concluded.
