The president, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, has appointed Mrs Sirra Wally Ndow-Njie, the deputy managing director of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) as the new minister of Energy effective Tuesday December 22nd, 2009, a press release from the Office of the President revealed yesterday.

The release reads: His Excellency the president, Shiekh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Sections 71 (1) and 71 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has appointed Mrs Sirra Wally Ndow-Njie as minister of Energy with effect from Tuesday, 22nd December 2009.
