One of former President Charles Taylor's loyalists, now in the Legislature, Mr. Kettehkumuehn Earl Murray, has indicted the UN as a "devious" and criminal "organization" of injustice, while hailing Mr. Charles Taylor, on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity, for what he said ending Liberia's genocide, warning that this paper's reporting of UN sanctions could lead to war. His threats and warnings of violence come barely a week after the UN Security Council demanded that the Liberian Government must do more to freeze the assets of individuals the UN deems still dangerous to international peace and internal security.
Mr. Murray said the real criminal is the UN because, he added, it has restricted the freedom of movement of "taxpaying Liberians" in his constituency. "The UN is the chief purveyor of human rights around the world. They are the ones denying Liberians their human rights", he said. He said Mr. Taylor is being tried by an organization with no respect for justice, adding that the US does not allow its citizens to stand trial before UN tribunals. You hear them making pronouncements around the world...They are suffering from selectine amnesia.
They are blind about things they don't want to see", he said raging tunes. On the free press, particularly this paper, the Congress for Democratic Change (now reportedly a Unity Party crossover) said it is time to take a look at press freedom to impose restrictions or bans. He said reporting of UN decisions, such as UN Security Council resolutions and assets freeze, could spark a new round of conflict, giving the massacre in Guinea, where over 157 people were massacred, as an example. "...The actual crime is to have the criminal facilitations of newspapers masquerading under the banner of freedom of speech. They are actually scandal sheets, which are been flaunted around here because of the large illiteracy of citizens.
It is unfair. If you continue to let this thing happen... this is what happened in Rwanda... If you continue to let these people have freedom of speech..." Speaking Wednesday on a local radio owned by one of those listed for assets freeze and travel, former Maritime Commissioner Benoni Urey, also listed in the TRC report as receiving 10% of Maritime proceeds yearly on Mr. Taylor's orders, he excepted to this Wednesday, about this paper's Monday, Dec. 21 headliner entitled "War Criminals Face UN Wrath", culled from a Dec 18, UN press release about assets freeze. He called for something to be done about the refreshingly high level of press freedom in the country.
A caller who identified himself as Musa Conneh of 24th Street said it: "I am very surprised that an honorable person...somebody who says he has a doctorate degree, will sit there because of his personal selfish interest will start to lash out t the UN, maybe where Dr Murray coming from, because he has that kind of bad character in the United States so he trying to bring that to the UN and I am advising young people not to take Dr. Murray seriously."
Another caller wondered why there were no opposing views represented. "...I think Mr. Murray has his own bias. What he is saying doesn't make sense at all," the caller said. Mr. Murray called on other like-minded individuals to defend those on the UN sanctioned list, those the Security Council feels are still a threat to the security of the country and have renewed its ban for another year.

I CANT BELIEVE AT THIS POINT IN TIME WE ARE STILL IN THE PROCESS OF DEMOBILIZING AND DETRAUMATIZING, NOT THE BOYS AND MEN THAT DID THE ACTUAL COMBAT ETC ETC BUT THE SO CALLED EDUCATED PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE ENTRUSTED WITH HOHOURABLE POSITIONS.
RECEIVING OUR HARD EARNED TAXPAYERS' DOLLARS, WHEN WE THE COMMONERS CANNOT EVEN AFFORD A GRAIN OF RICE ON A DAILY BASIS IF YOU CANNOT PREACH PEACE, AND FIND WAYS AND MEANS TO ENABLE THE COMMON PEOPLE TO EARN A DECENT LIVELIHOOD THEN YOU NEED TO GET THE HECK OUT OF THE HOUSE. THIS IS NOT WHY YOU WERE PUT THERE. YOU ARE MISUSING TAX DOLLARS. I HOPE SOMEONE IS READING AND OR LISTENING
