Asmara — President Isaias received and held talks with Dr. Eltigani Seisi Mohammed, one of the leaders of Darfur, regarding the Darfur peace process.
In the meeting at the Denden Hall today, the two sides conducted extensive discussion on a number of significant agenda items, especially on ways of facilitating the delay encountered in the Darfur peace process and bringing about lasting solution. They also reached understanding on the need to enhance the role of Darfurian popular initiatives to this end.
Dr. Eltigani Seisi told ERINA following the meeting that Eritrea is one of the countries that are exerting unremitting efforts to resolve the Darfur problem, and that it has so far made major contribution in a number of aspects which are significant towards achieving lasting solution to the problem.
Stating that Eritrea played great role in bringing together all Darfurian movements and for resolving the problem, he expressed strong conviction that the country would lead the peace process in a constructive manner, as it has clear perception and stance.
